#43 – Shughnan Village, AFGHANISTAN
A laid back village where time is of no importance.
While Shughnan village in northeastern Afghanistan may not be the most scenic place in Afghanistan, it is one of the safer areas to visit. Cross the border near the Tajik town of Khorog – if you can manage to get to this rather remote Tajik area. In Shughnan, feel at ease as several men carry machine guns to protect the village against the Taliban and other extremists.
